SDN recognises the unique position of Aboriginal people in our culture and history, and expresses this by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land and paying respect to Elders, past and present.
SDN provides: child care | preschool | specialist support services | centre management services.
- We operate 24 Children’s Education and Care Centres in NSW and the ACT, delivering high-quality early education and care to around 3000 children each year aged from birth to five years.
- At SDN we invest everything into the quality of our services and do not make money from fees. Any profit that is made is reinvested into the quality of our services.
- SDN also provides assistance and advice to other children’s services organisations on inclusive practice for children with additional needs.
- In addition to mainstream child care, our support services include early intervention, Aboriginal community development, programs for children with disabilities.

Our mission
- provide high-quality early childhood education and care
- strengthen families and communities
- address inequalities faced by children.
Our values
In carrying out our mission we commit ourselves to being:
- trustworthy and reliable
- inclusive and respectful
- creative and innovative.
Our vision
We are working towards a future where:
- the promise and potential of every child is realised
- families and communities are strong and caring
- children’s services are valued and well resourced.
We work to ensure the children’s services sector is better equipped to include all children, especially children with disabilities and developmental delays, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. We support families and communities because children’s lives and development are enhanced when their families and community are strengthened. We celebrate the strengths of every individual, group, family and community and believe we all contribute to the wellbeing of the environments we live in.
