Safety at SDN centres

SDN is committed to providing, maintaining and promoting healthy and safe spaces and practices to ensure our childcare centres, preschools, program and office spaces are safe places for staff, volunteers, children and other visitors.

Some practices we implement at centres to promote safe environments for children, families and staff include:
  • Carry out daily safety checks.
  • Maintain good quality equipment and furniture.
  • Promote correct hand washing techniques through information posters for children and staff.
  • Train staff about safety practices, such as first aid and correct food hygiene.
  • Undertake risk assessments for possible hazards and new activities, such as excursions and functions.
  • Practice safe manual handling techniques, such as staff greeting children at their level and minimising lifting.
  • Minimise the use of hazardous and toxic cleaning chemicals and products.

SDN employs a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager whose role is to support centres

There are a range of health and safety policies at SDN. If you would like to view these policies please contact our Head Office on 9213 2400.
