About the centre
SDN Petersham TAFE is one of only two SDN centres that operate on behalf of TAFE NSW. As we are providing a service for the TAFE we give preference to TAFE families, however other families can be considered pending availability.
Our staff
Staff in each of the two rooms are TAFE trained Early Childhood Educators. The centre program is supervised by a university educated Early Childhood Teacher. The languages spoken by the staff include Mandarin, Shanghainese, Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi and Greek.
Our care and education program
The outdoor environment has two separate shaded spaces, one of which offers a ‘rainforest walk’ through palm trees. We are developing our garden space as part of an exciting project and welcome families’ involvement in this and in all aspects of our program.
Location
Our location within the TAFE means that we liaise with the Children’s Studies Department. Once a week our preschool group joins the TAFE and children from the local community for play sessions where the children participate in a variety of innovative experiences.
