About the centre
SDN Crookwell Preschool is a community-based preschool that has been operating for over 35 years. In 2002 SDN Children’s Services commenced management of the preschool at Crookwell, working with staff, families and the community to ensure that it continues to uphold its local history and remains an important part of our community.
Our staff
We have a small, dedicated and professional team of staff, with more than 40 years of service between all of us. We include a university trained Early Childhood Teacher, staff with diploma and staff with Certificate III in Children Services qualifications.
Our care and education programs
The children have an authentic learning journal that captures stories, pictures, and photos of their journey as they become capable and competent learners through play-based experiences.
At SDN Crookwell we value every family and ensure that all families feel welcome at the centre. We endeavour to embrace other cultures by recognising and joining in with celebrations, festivals and important cultural days.
Location
Our centre prides itself on its beautiful natural outdoor environment with trees, shrubs, grass and natural shade. There are wide areas for running, footy games, soccer, parachute games and exploring. The children swing on branches, make cubby houses and cook with the leaf mulch under the trees. Our outdoor area is a natural environment that requires the children to use their imagination and create their own games.
Crookwell Preschool has two spacious rooms in which the children move around each day, depending on their interests and learning experiences.
In our small regional community, networking and partnerships with local schools are a valued and important part of our community involvement.
Each year the previous year’s preschoolers are invited back to revisit and share their experiences at primary school, reinforcing our partnerships with local schools.

Testimonials from families
‘My family has been associated with SDN Crookwell for the past 11 years. The staff at SDN Crookwell provide a rich and warm environment where each child has the opportunity to play, explore and learn about their world. My children have all been well prepared by the dedicated staff and their programs to make the sometimes difficult transition to ‘big school’. We also find it reassuring to know that the staff at SDN Crookwell know our children, our families and our community.’ Sally Croker.
‘My two daughters have been attending SDN Crookwell Preschool for the past two years. This centre creates a warm and healthy atmosphere for children to learn and further enhance new skills. The centre promotes an environment that is inclusive of all children’s educational needs. As a parent of a child who requires additional support, I have found the staff to be extremely helpful and willing to be a part of the individual learning program the we have in place.’ Nic Badgery.
‘My four children have attended SDN Crookwell Preschool and I can highly recommend the centre to anyone. My children received well-rounded care from caring professional staff. The centre endeavored to develop my children’s social, emotional and intellectual abilities in interesting and varied ways. The end of year sample book detailed extensive one-on-one activities tailored to each individual child. The centre is inviting and friendly and parents are always encouraged to stay as long as they want.’ Sarah Lowe.
Testimonials from Children
