What is the Child and Family Learning Framework? The SDN Child and Family Learning Framework is the set of principles which SDN has recently articulated as the foundation for all SDN's child care, family support and consultancy services.
This framework will provide coherence and consistency to our work and ensure our philosophy and agreed practices are implemented in everything we do. Implementing this approach will take time, and we are interested in hearing what you or your child's experience has been of this integrated service delivery model.
The principles of the Child and Family Learning Framework are:
1. A focus on the child Children are unique individuals, with their own characteristics, skills, interests and needs, as well as being self motivated learners, with rights as active citizens;
2. Family centred practice We acknowledge family strengths and capacity, encouraging families to discuss with us their expectations for their child; and
3. Community capacity building Our services operate in a community context, contributing to the development of social connections.
