  • Mentoring and coaching practitioners in early childhood education centres to integrate family-centred practices into their daily work.
  • Sharing information and processes to build documentation and reflective skills.
  • Hosting regular ‘Reflection on Practice’ meetings to establish and maintain relationships and develop shared understandings.
  • Collecting and sharing information about the disabilities that are relevant to children within the Community of Learners, and about the help that is available –  including entitlement to other support.
  • An interactive website to allow information to be shared across the Community of Learners.

Content of the Community of Learners website includes:

  • definitions of terminology
  • explanations of roles and responsibilities of different professionals
  • links to other useful websites
  • information about different disabilities
  • accessible readings on up-to-date early childhood topics specific to working with young children with disabilities
  • a password secure section where information about children and families can be stored and added to by professionals involved with that family.
