Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and online CCS estimator

The new Child Care Subsidy (CCS) will come into effect on 2 July 2018. This will replace both the Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate.

The CCS is more than just a combination of the two payments, it is a fundamental change to the way that eligibility for payments to families is assessed, and how the payment is calculated.

The amount of CCS that families will receive will depend on individual family circumstances. Families who currently receive Child Care Benefit or Child Care Rebate and expect to receive the CCS will need to determine their own eligibility for this. The Government has stated that Centrelink will contact families directly to provide information on current entitlements and how they may change under new arrangements. This may include asking families for additional information.

To make it easy for families and carers to calculate their estimated entitlement to the CCS, a Family Child Care Subsidy Estimator is now available online here. The estimator is user-friendly and only takes a few minutes to complete. Please note that this calculator is designed to give parents and carers an estimate of how much subsidy they might receive, and that this may not be the final calculated amount once the CCS is introduced.

SDN would like to know how CCS may impact our families. After using the online calculator to estimate what CCS you may receive, we would appreciate it if you could please go to our brief confidential online survey here to answer three quick questions about your estimated CCS. Thank you in advance for your feedback.
