We’re excited about the opportunities the NDIS offers you and your child, but there’s a lot of information to wade through so we want to help you to understand what this change means to your family.
The NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) is a national scheme that provides targeted support and improved access to services for individuals living with disabilities.
The NDIS gives eligible participants choice and control to choose the services and help that they need, in the way that they want.
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is the Australian Government agency that’s responsible for implementing the NDIS.
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is the Australian Government agency responsible for implementing NDIS. They work with eligible families to develop a plan to support their child’s individual needs and help them to achieve their goals. This plan translates into funding under the NDIS which can then be used to purchase the services, support and equipment required as part of your child’s plan.
The level of support and funding provided for each child will directly related to their needs. As a child’s needs change, the funding plan can be adjusted accordingly.
Families will be able to decide how to manage their child’s funding and choose which service provider best meets their needs.
The NDIS commenced in July 2013 and is now in all locations around Australia.
SDN currently provides disability services under the NDIS in the ACT and in Northern Sydney, Western Sydney, South Western Sydney, Sydney, South Eastern Sydney, and the Nepean Blue Mountains region of NSW.
Yes, SDN Children’s Services (SDN) is registered to provide support and services to children and their families under the NDIS and is currently providing services in the ACT and in Northern Sydney, Western Sydney, South Western Sydney and the Nepean Blue Mountains region of NSW.
The NDIS promotes early action, where getting help as early as possible can reduce the effect of disability on the child. SDN welcomes the introduction of the NDIS and is excited about the positive impact this will have in helping to give all children the opportunity to reach their promise and potential.
We currently provide support and services in the following areas:

If your child is eligible for an NDIS plan, you may be able to use the funds in your plan to pay for therapies provided by SDN. If your child is not eligible for funding under an NDIS plan, another way to access our services is through direct payment to SDN.
Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) is the place to start to get the support you need. ECEI has been developed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to help children and families gain and use the skills they need to thrive.
If you are eligible for funding under the NDIS, you will receive a plan to support your child’s individual needs and help them to achieve their goals. This NDIS plan translates into funding dollars which can then be used to purchase the services, support and equipment you need for your child to reach their goals.
Your child’s NDIS plan will be made up of various categories of support that have been funded, with a total that is the sum of the individual amounts allocated to each category. Each category links to a choice of services, supports and equipment with a cost that is set by the NDIS (generally an hourly rate).

SDN provides therapies for children from birth until they start high school. When the child transitions to high school we’ll assist with transitioning them to another provider that focuses on young adults.
