What is CaPS?

The objective of CaPS is to improve the wellbeing of children, aged 0-12 years, through coaching caregivers to improve and/or develop skills. This supports them to feel capable, confident and connected, expanding their family's village and providing them a sense of belonging.

We work with your strengths

Our family resource workers provide individual support to families across three areas (Canterbury, Parramatta, and Inner Sydney).  We work with families for up to 6 months to identify their goals and develop projects building on their strengths and aligned with their values.

We prioritise referrals for

  • Families with children under 5 years of age
  • Newly arrived migrants and CaLD families
  • Families not accessing any other services
  • Families with vulnerabilities which may escalate risk factors around children wellbeing

What you'll achieve

In partnering with SDN we will coach you to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Using attachment-based parenting programs you will practice new skills in your home and receive feedback to improve
  • We will utilise our SDN Village to help you understand child development milestones and have realistic expectations of your child/ren
  • You will have increased knowledge and confidence about services and the skills to navigate systems to support your child/ren and family
  • You will have increased and/or strengthened your family village to support you to build on your successes long after you leave the program
