We need to carefully consider where else we need to be and how we can fund those new services. We also need to improve organisational efficiencies and control costs. As a not for profit we have been able to access rent-reduced locations, however those opportunities are rapidly disappearing and commercial rents are now the rule rather than the exception. With staff costs by far the greatest proportion of our expenditure, we need to make sure that our staff are not only qualified and experienced, but that we also use them efficiently. We operate on a shared services model, which centralises functions that support the whole organisation, such as finance, human resources, IT, and marketing. We have implemented cost savings in our shared services through a reduction in the number of roles, and with a view to maintaining staff costs in proportion to organisational revenue.
