51 We fondly remember SDN member Jennifer Hill who sadly passed away in November 2017. Jennifer was dedicated to helping children reach their full potential and to making a difference to children and families. Jennifer was passionate about the importance of early intervention, and also had an interest in music for children. Jennifer had long known she wanted to work with children when she enrolled in 1961 at SDN’s Nursery School Teachers’ College. She graduated in 1963 with a three year teaching diploma. Her third year placement had been at SDN Marrickville, and after graduation, Jennifer worked as a nursery school teacher in the toddler room at SDN Surry Hills (1964) and at SDN Northern Suburbs (1965). She later applied the skills learned at SDN to work in other Sydney preschools until the 1990s, along with other higher education institutions. In later years, volunteer work played a large part in her life, and this included running a crèche, starting a music and playtime group, and assisting children with disabilities. In 2015, in recognition of her experience, shared values and continued support of SDN, Jennifer was invited to become an SDN member. Remembering Jennifer Hill
