Proudly a not for profit since 1905, we invest with a clear purpose, to enhance the quality of our programs and skills of our staff, so we can deliver on our promise to help create a more equitable world where every child and family belongs.

What does it mean to be a not-for-profit organisation?

At SDN, we are committed to purpose and the positive impact we can make to the lives of children and young people, while partnering with our families and staff to do so. Being an NFP means that the money we generate doesn't go to shareholders, but rather surplus goes straight back into our purpose. This purpose drives our fundamental approach to everything we do and enables us to create a village where everyone belongs.

We can invest in our educators, so they invest in your child

Investment in training, above award wages, longevity of staff across our SDN village.

We let our educators be educators

Our investment in ancillary support like cooks, gardeners and Centre Admins lets educators spend more time with your child.

We don’t compromise on quality or safety for profits

We support the whole child through evidence-based practice and we’ve invested in championing our child safe culture at all levels of SDN.

We support our village to raise a child

We support our educators to support you so you can feel confident, capable and connected with our care. We listen and response to children, family and staff feedback.

We embed diversity and inclusion into our everyday culture

We have 50+ cultural backgrounds represented across our teams. We believe diverse voices make strong teams, and that everyone has a role to play in supporting children’s wellbeing.

We are inclusive of all children

We support all children, offering specific Inclusion Supports and a range of pathways for families in need. We run an Aboriginal & Torres Straight Islander scholarships, 100% of donations go into the scholarship.

We lend a voice for the people who are part of our village and beyond.
