Getting and using your NDIS plan
The NDIS website contains a lot of useful information about accessing NDIS support for your child. But, because the NDIS is such a large scheme, it’s not always easy to find your way to the most useful information.
We’ve done some of the hard work for you and found links to some of the most useful information on the NDIS website.
Participant Booklets – a great place to start
Participant booklets provide information to support you on your entire NDIS journey including:
- Understanding and accessing the NDIS
- Creating an NDIS plan
- Understanding and using your NDIS plan.
Each booklet also comes in an easy English edition. They can all be accessed from one page on the NDIS website, which you can access here.
Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) – great information for families with children under 6
ECEI is the pathway to support your child if they are under 6 and have been diagnosed with a disability or developmental delay.
Useful stories and videos on the ECEI section of the NDIS website explain how it all works and what you need to do to access ECEI.
The ECEI stories on this page are very useful as they help you understand the ways that ECEI can help your child.
- Georgia’s plan describes the journey of one child through to NDIS Planning.
- Jason’s Story shows how ECEI was able to support a child experiencing developmental delays to transition successfully to school.
Accessing the NDIS- Where to go once you’re ready to apply for access
The NDIS fact sheet “Accessing the NDIS” provides information on how to check your eligibility for NDIS and then how to apply (quick tip: to apply you will need to call the NDIA on 1800 800 110 between 8 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday).
